Novel!
So, I've finally typed up about half of what I've had written in my notebooks as a first draft, and so far it's already about 1/10th of my book done! (Figuring about 250 words per page, for a standard paperback, and about 200-300 pages for the whole book.) Woot! I'm guessing I'll be about 1/8th of the way through by tomorrow night. Yay, progress! (Although the near-finished Star Wars piece has been put on the backburner for now, to make way for my original work.) Most of the major scenes are now complete, and the rest is either the filler of getting from one place to another, or research that needs to be done before any other progress can be made. (It's a historical fiction, so I'm taking the "historical" part very seriously. No wristwatches on MY medieval knights, thank you very much!) But having re-read and deconstructed some of my favorite books, I can't believe how very little of the actual text is the "action" vs. how much is just process. But hey, if tripe like "Twilight" can get published, then I'm well on my way to stardom -- no sparkly gay vampires in MY story, no siree! Too bad Michael Biehn is too old to play my lead character. ~__^ (Because fuck if THIS would not have just about been dead on:) Alas. I never realized what a fuckton of research has to go into a book like this. It's a daunting, but intriguing prospect. On the one hand, certain parts will be frustrating and depressing as fuckall to delve into (again), but on the other hand, I look forward to having something that I can be proud of, knowing how much time and effort I put into making something really solid. I also never realized how much of a leap it is to write something in the first person when it's not really about yourself. I find it difficult at times to stay true to the character, who is so much my opposite (patient, forgiving, deeply religious, complete pacifist) I sometimes want to strangle the page after I've written it, even though I know it's what he would do. At least then I know I'm on the right track! ~__^ Having a 3 terabyte music library to pull BGM from is helpful as well for getting into the right mood. So far I've Bear McCreary, John Williams, Christoph Beck, Itzhak Perlman, Mozart, Beethoven, Sibelius, Klaus Doldinger & Giorgio Moroder, Szymon Laks, Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard, Azam Ali, Lebo M., Anything Box, Jimmy Eat World, Martin Gore, VNV Nation, and Hirasawa Susumu to thank. Particularly VNV Nation's "Beloved" which made me realize exactly how my book has to end in order to stay true to my character, and helped me to make my peace with it. (So if you're looking for hints, check it out. ~_^) Current Mood: accomplishedCurrent Music: Gackt - "Memories" | | Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 | | 10:12 pm |
(Almost) Full Versailles Video!
The "story version" is supposed to be coming out soon, and it will be ~15 minutes long (and presumably have more of me and everyone else in it as well)! For now, here's the PV: Current Mood: cheerful | | Saturday, June 20th, 2009 | | 9:00 pm |

The Remix Is Done!
For those of you who have been wondering what all the "remixing" stuff was about in my "current music" section for the last two weeks or so: I was asked by a friend of mine to do a remix for Haberdashery's up-coming single "2 Become 1". So I made a "matsuri" version where I replayed the parts but all with traditional Japanese instruments (flute, drums, koto, and shamisen). It was fun! They're going into post-production now, but the single should be released in mid-/end of July, so please check it out! (Check it out anyway, because Haberdashery are one of the VERY FEW modern synthpop groups out there that keep the old traditions alive while still maintaining their own style and flair. Even their Erasure covers are awesome and unique -- If you like things like Yazoo, Erasure, old-school PSB, Imogen Heap, The Presets, etc. you'll love them!) Also, randomly: new Gackt single? Yeah, he managed to fuck this one up royally. Big surprise there. "Oblivious" is NOT an enka song, dude, so keep the goddamn vibrato in check, please. Also, the pitch corrector that I hear throughout the ENTIRE SINGLE? Dude, really, if you suck ass that bad now, just fucking use your vocaloid to do it. Ten to one says if I had about one uninterrupted week with that software, I could do it better with the MACHINE than he can with his "real" voice now. How fucking sad. Then the asshat went and took OUT the awesome syncopated rhythm at the bridge, and instead replaced it with an ANNOYING AS FUCK guitar "riff" that sounds like your CD is skipping. >__< Fucking pissed me off. Lame. Seriously. And "Faraway"? Jesus Christ at a Five And Dime... nasal much? I don't even want to GO THERE on the "woo"s and "hey"s and anyway, the whole song is such a HUGE fucking rip off of "Road" and "Missing" already... *sigh* AND. Who the fuck is your sound engineer now, Gackt? Phil Fucking-Wall-Of-Sound Spector, for Christ's sake? This one is only MARGINALLY better than the last. "Koakuma Heaven" (and whatever-the-fuck-else was on there, forgotten already) sounded like the simultaneously farting buttholes of a thousand blind Tibetan monks (that is, there was FAR too much distortion and clipping and artifacts induced by said shitty mastering). Thank fuck he DID finally agree to put the instrumental versions on there... I'm gonna have fun with those! ~__^ Also? There are Nazis on my CDs. WTF asshole? *repeated headdesk* edited to add: You know, since everyone likes to ride my ass for "bashing Gackt" these days, let me point out a few things: 1) Being a fan does NOT mean putting up with bullshit and sub-standard work from your favorite artist. 2) Sucking up every last drop of shit from your favorite artist without dissension does not make you a "better fan" than someone else: It makes you a fucking consumer whore and a retarded sycophant. 3) Even though the majority of Gackt's recent stuff has been shit, imnsho, even if he were to take an explosively diarrheic crap on a piece of staff paper and connect the turdspatter to create a song, it would STILL be better than most music on the commercial market these days, so there. I simply choose not to tolerate one of my favorite artists encouraging people to dress up in Nazi uniforms, making ignorant statements of "fact" about immigration policies and immigrants, which he knows NOTHING about, and using a pitch corrector and lack of singing technique for practically everything he releases and calling it a "new style". Book meme!
Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you’ve read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in 15 minutes. Copy the instructions into your own note. Listed as they came to mind (in other words, in no particular order of importance): 1. "Music Of Another World" by Szymon Laks 2. "Physics Of The Impossible" by Michio Kaku 3. "The Gormenghast Novels" by Mervyn Peake 4. "Last Of The Amazons" by Steven Pressfield 5. "See You Later" by Christopher Pike 6. "Odd Thomas" by Dean Koontz 7. "Twilight Of The Dawn" by Dean Koontz 8. "Elfquest" by Wendy & Richard Pini 9. "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne 10. "Titus" by William Shakespeare 11. "Partings At Dawn: An Anthology Of Japanese Gay Literature" (particularly the "Onnagata" story by Yukio Mishima 12. "Atheism: The Case Against God" by George H. Smith 13. "Lightning" by Dean Koontz 14. "God Is Not Great" by Christopher Hitchens 15. "The Portable Phonograph" by Walter van Tilburg Clark (Man, only 15? I can think of twice that in less that 15 mins! T__T I'd also like to add "Eats(,) Shoots, and Leaves," by Lynne Truss, if only because she advocates that people over grade school age who can't properly place an apostrophe should be dragged into the streets to be shot. LOL!) Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: CLEANING! WHEEE! ^__^ | | Thursday, June 11th, 2009 | | 11:11 pm |

Un-Happiness Meme (day 9 of 30):
- I fucked up and left a DVD of pics at home, when I went out SPECIFICALLY to deliver them to someone all the way out in Nakano, and then had to come back home and get them, then go out again to deliver them (correctly, this time), thus eating up about 3 1/2 more hours than I needed to. And I could have used that time to be writing live reports or doing an important remix that I need to do. Entirely my own damn fault, which makes me even more pissed. lol Current Mood: annoyedCurrent Music: remix! | | Monday, June 8th, 2009 | | 8:56 pm |
Un-Happiness Meme (day 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of 30):
3rd: - got run over by practically every fucking Japanese person on the street 4th: - found out a certain someone didn't ask something like I asked them to, and now I'm SERIOUSLY PISSED OFF 5th: - Japanese businessmen are cocksuckers. Japanese businessmen on trains are even bigger cocksuckers. 6th: - had a fabulous time out at karaoke and Turkish food and playing the Star Trek drinking game with some horrible-tasting yuzu-shu (lol), but then proceeded to shit and puke my guts out all night and half of the next day 7th: - got run over by practically every fucking Japanese person on the street AGAIN on the way to my massage (which relaxed me for exactly two hours, until I had to go back home and get run over my MORE retarded people)and the bike Nazis were out again (ON SUNDAY! WTF! GET A FUCKING LIFE!) and gave me shit about parking my bike, to which I replied, "Touch my bike again and I will kill you, fucker." That seemed to do the trick. 8th: - tried not to shit my pants all day while having to work and run to the goddamn post office to send stuff and pay my bills (managed not to, but only by a few seconds -- busted my ass open on that crapper like you wouldn't believe though, when I finally got home!) Un-Happiness Meme (day 3 of 30)
- Started my morning off right by forgetting to bring my cocksucking bus pass. And the dick on the bus, even though he knows I have one, made me pay 200 yen anyway. Butthole. Fuck me, I hate rules Nazis. Any person that hidebound by rules and regulations needs to be kicked repeatedly in the face and treated to a heaping bowl of dick. Un-Happiness Meme (day 1 and 2 of 30):
Since there was a happiness meme, and it's just plain not right to be happy all the time, I've decided to start a "name one thing each day that pissed you the fuck off" meme. I'm a firm believer in the "letting it all out and feeling better" approach, so for each day in the month, write one thing, no matter how big or small, that pissed you off. ( 1st: (cut for large screencaps) )2nd:- having to sit in an hour long meeting THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY CLASSES or even the jr. high school AT ALL, rather than having our own, probably highly-productive department meeting, just because That's The Way It's Always Been Done. *sigh* ENOUGH with the BB already. Cleaning. Again. WTF.
Ok, so after the second scrubdown I now have bathroom walls that are whiter than a 1950's bus ride through the Deep South. Behold! Now those are some clean fucking walls, my friends. And that's without the flash! That shit looks like art. I should cut out the drywall and sell it to some rich fucking moron for millions of dollars. LOL Also today, more Engrish fun! Some shower "jell": Not so sure I want my "aroma" to be that of " coming love", but hey, whatever floats your boat! On my earplugs: God damn, I need to make that middle one an icon or something. It uses the earplugs or it gets the hose again! LOL Current Music: werkin' on shit | | Sunday, May 31st, 2009 | | 11:15 pm |
Happiness Meme (day 29, 30, and 31 of 31)
29th: - Niiiiiice two hour BODY MASSAGE! - Operation: Ninja-My-Bike-Out-Of-Impound was a success! More than just a success, too (for I was actually able to pick an Alpha lock! Fuck YEAH!) Not-so-mild-mannered English teacher by day, professional espionage artist by night! - New Terminator novel by Timothy Zahn was AWESOME. Go read it! - Also got more b-day goodies, which I will have to post later! ^__^ 30th: - WERK! but then some fun at a friend's jazz/comedy concert, plus I mad a few new music contacts who will definitely help out my outlook on life when I can switch to music full-time! woot! 31st: - I did FUCKALL. And that makes me HAPPY. I slept in, well, til about 10:30am anyway, then I cleaned house (and finally got MOST of the last of the red fucking ass dye out of my fucking ass tile grout in the bathroom -- grrrr.) Also, I typed up some articles for the mag, and did other work-related shit that makes me feel accomplished without having had to leave the house. Yay! What I would give to see these brought to glorious life as LJ icons!
Cut for blatant offense to the religiously-sensitive: ( Christ on a(n/the)... )( Christ in a(n/the)... )( Jesus (H) ___ Christ )Yes, I am that unable to sleep bored. All of these things I have either uttered myself in a moment of surprise, shock, horror, what-have-you, or heard someone else say on a regular enough basis that I decided to include it here. Feel free to add your own! ~___^ (No fair just going for the dictionary and picking shit at random, it has to be something you've actually heard or said! And it has to be funny, or you're not allowed to play anymore. lol) Also, enjoy more blasphemy; play "Five Clicks To Jesus": Five Clicks to Jesus is, by far, the hippest “wiki-game” known to man.
Directions for Play:
1. Go to Wikipedia 2. Click “Random Article” (in the box under the big ol’ Wiki puzzle logo) 3. Player has EXACTLY five (5) clicks to get from the random article to the article “Jesus”. Doing it in fewer clicks = you lose!
(A click constitutes as going from one page to another. If you click a link and it brings you further down the page, that is not a click.)
